My Weight Loss Journey

As someone who has struggled with weight my entire life I have found joy in working with clients who are larger framed. However that poses a challenge. How can I expect my clients to stay focused on "self-care" if I myself am not leading by example? And yes, living a healthy lifestyle is another example of "self-care".

In an effort to stay focused and encourage my clients who are also struggling, I have created a blog that I have committed to updating often throughout my journey. Check in each week to see my progress!!

First Weigh in!!

Week One!

April 11, 2018
Uncomfortable realization moment... pulling my underwear out of the dryer this week realizing they're so BIG I could jump out of an airplane and use them as a parachute!!! Definitely motivation to get to the gym and not skip out on my workout. Stay tuned for progress!!!

Meet My Trainer!

April 10, 2018
So I knew I couldn't do this alone and luckily I don't have to. I now have a trainer who will be working with me throughout my journey. Meet Devin! Devin Ricker is currently a personal trainer at the Wellness Center and has been training for eight years now. He started his own fitness journey at an early age by competing in powerlifting, bodybuilding, and through several other sports such as football. Upon entering college, he wanted to dedicate his studies to learning how to further help those in need of transforming their bodies and minds through physical conditioning so he earned both his Bachelor's and Master's in Exercise and Sports Physiology. Devin now dedicates his time at the Wellness Center to helping everyday people reach their own personal goals of weight loss, strength, overall health, and so much more. I'm looking forward to working with Devin. If you are interested in scheduling Personal Training at the Wellness Center with Devin, contact Danielle O'Hara at (423)431-3924.

May 7, 2018
I am now entering my 4th week and I feel great. I've been rebuilding muscle, increasing my weights and pushing further every day I work out. There have been days I didn't want to go but I am constantly encouraged by the staff at the Wellness Center including my trainer. I've lost 8 pounds of fat so far and I am pleased with my progress. Stay tuned for more updates!

My First Race!!!

September 14, 2018

I am finally back on track with eating clean, exercising 4 days a week and... I am training for my first ever relay half marathon! I am part of a 4 person relay team representing The Wellness Center. When I began training back in August I could barely run a few feet without losing my breath. Now I can go further each time. I am keeping track of my time with an app on my phone and pushing harder each time I run.  Wish me luck!!!

Training in Florida

August 6, 2018

In late July I went to Marathon, Florida for more Watsu training!! It was 8 days of eating clean, water work, self care and rejuvenation. Again, I didn't gain or lose weight but I felt at optimal health while I was there. AND... I drank TONS of water!!!

Making Healthy Choices

July 9, 2018

I struggled in June and took very few photos. Due to some family health issues, I was off track a bit and lost my focus but... I made healthier choices in July and tried to get back on track. Drinking tea at night, cutting down on coffee and of course limiting my sugar intake. I didn't lose anymore weight in July but rather maintained. Sooo still progress!!!
